    Recently I have converted some of my RMVB into AVI by folowing the guilde "How to convert RM/RMVB to AVI or MPEG1/2 (https://forum.videohelp.com/topic289872.html)", the conversion wasn't a problem and it seem to work fine when i review it at my computer.

    The problem arose when I wanted to burn that converted AVI to DVD by using 'Window DVD Maker' from Vista, the end result was top half of the TV screen was video and the bottom half of the screen was blank green colour screen. However the main menu looks OK.

    Could any one please kindly advise me on the problem and way to rectify it.

    Thank you.

    A lot would depend on what format of 'AVI' you had. There are many, many types of video that could be called 'AVI'. AVI is just the name of the container, not the format.

    WDM, at best, is slow and unreliable and not likely to handle many file types. I would use a different converter program. Maybe the freeware FAVC or similar. Others here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/all-in-one-dvd-converters

    You can also drop your AVI into Gspot 2.70 and post a screenshot of it here. That might show a problem with your file. https://forum.videohelp.com/topic271697.html

    And welcome to our forums.

    Thanks redwudz,

    however I still couldn't solve my problem. I tried to use FAVC, it failed. I tried to follow https://forum.videohelp.com/topic271697.html to post a screenshot, but my 'print screen' button doesnt responded, I couldn't captured the screen to show.

    Well, as ar as I remembered, I converted my original RMVB file thru VirtualDubMod, I selected Xvid MPEG-4 as my video compression, Mpeg Layer 3 as my audio compression. The converted AVI file worked fine on my media player. It only came out wired in my final DVD while I buned the DVD or convert it to WMV with my Window Movie Maker.

    Aside from you experimenting with different tools to perform the avi to DVD conversion (check HOW TO: Convert and choose avi > DVD). We won't be able to help much without seeing the file specs. The problem could be a result of the original conversion or just a poor avi to DVD conversion.

    If authoring as VideoDVD was your ultimate goal, you should read what applies to the "or MPEG1/2" part of the guide. No sense in going
    RMVB->AVI->mpeg2
    if you can go
    RMVB->mpeg2

    Thanks all of you.

    I got the problem solve. It wasn't the conversion, It was my vista than causing problem. Some how when I tried to burn my AVI file into DVD by using another computer (with windows XP) it worked prefectly, so I guess it might be some software corrupted in my vista.

    Thanks again for the helping.

    Sounds like a problem with Xvid or Divx on your Vista system. I have one Vista machine that happily converts vid to Xvid or Xvid to mpeg without any problems, so it's not a Vista issue.
