I have an old dlink di 524 wireless router that I use to connect my vista pc and my xbox 360 and nintendo wii.
It's been working fine for four or five years now with my dsl connection (not sure on exact age but firmware is 2004).
The symptoms I've been getting is difficulty downloading virtual console games for my nintendo wii. The error code it gave me indicated interference issues as a possible cause but my wifi adapter for my pci is doing ok. The other symptom just started last week on my 360. I can sign into xbox live but I get kicked off in less than five or ten minutes. Thus I can't play halo 3 online. i have done my network connections test on the xbox and I am all green on it.
Is the router dying? If it is having trouble mainting a solid connection with the wii and 360 should I buy a new router?

Yes I'm currently using it with a ativa wifi g usb adapter. I am connected just fine with it. THough my two game consoles in the same room as the pc seem to be having reliablity problems with the connection.

The router is still dependent on its plug into the telephone socket , borrow a new splitter / lead to check those first unless you want an excuse to buy a new one
, if those leads are duff they would still give you good connection from the router to the xbox of course but not neccessarily a good net connection

try using a network finder (not quite sure if they are called that) to see if any neighbours are broadcasting their wifi on the same channel and its interfering with the consoles connections < the ativa adapter might be fine but it could not be ok for the others (im just chucking ideas out here before i pop off to bed)

THanks sartori - I'll keep that in mind.
@ hanugro - I have done the reset on the wireless and I also did a power off and on on the dsl modem itself. I am now back onine on my vista pc via the wifi adapter.
I am going to check out my xbox and see if I can play a round or two on halo 3. If the connection holds that long than I can assume the reset worked.
Thanks for the suggestions....Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
They get dusty inside, just like PCs. Give it a shot of canned air.

Thanks everyone.
Well the reset seemed to work at least for the 360. I was able to stay logged into to LIVE for twenty minutes or so - played two rounds of halo 3.
I haven't tested my Nintendo Wii yet but hopefully that will let me finish the download at the virtual store. THe best news is my pcs wifi connection was never affected...Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
