Anyone agree that "newbie post", "dumb question here..." and "total n00b" is not needed as a topic title?
I'm not sure how others feel, but I usually skip over those. I'd rather they simply ask the question and save room in the topic for a description and leave the judgment of newbie or dumb to me. With such awkward Subject titles, the person IMO probably cannot properly convey their problem adequately.
I'd like to see less "Total noob question about DVD", and more "Does a DVD need the AUDIO_TS folder?" or "How do I remove extras from a DVD?" (specifics)
Or alternately, post it in, hmm... I don't know, the Newbie / General discussions forum?![]()
Probably the worst offenders are the ones who don't use an appropriate subject anyway. "Newbie question here" or "this has probably been answered but..."
I guess there's not much that can be done about it. I suppose if even 2 people read this post with a better understanding of how to phrase the Subject, it was worth it to post.![]()

No matter how many times you post a guideline to message posting rules someone will say-NEED HELP,NEWBIE HERE or similar, people dont read ahead and then say sorry after.

I doubt you will change 'newbie nature'.
If I see them, I usually change their titles to something better and caution them about our rules per descriptive titles.

Exactly, they will just come up with something else to say the same thing, ala the 'invent a better idiot' idea..

Generally, When they say they are a newbie, that usually means they just joined and didn't search or read anything and they want someone to give them step by step directions without even looking to see what has been posted many times before. Your first instinct is probably the correct one, ignore it.
Nothing worse than someone who signs up and instantly asks "How do I do " this thing that I am too lazy to search for the answer to because I can't bother to click the "How To" box on the left.
I don't mind helping those that did search and can point to what they were reading and where they are having problems understanding or working with what they read. -
I really don't care if they claim to be a newbie as long as the subject means something. If it doesn't, I just report it as a bad subject and let the mods take care of it as they see fit. I don't generally help though until the subject is changed (assuming I know what they're asking about).
