Nero 8 Stuck at checking discs

Hi all

I have nero 8 (latest) and 3 DVD burners, all SATA. When I try to burn a CD, nero hangs at 'checking discs.' Any Ideas??

Core2 Due 6750, 4 GB Ram Windows XP Pro with all the latest updates.

I uninstalled and reinstalled nero. Worked once, then hung again.

Check the Nero burn log. It should have more information about the error. And you might try ImgBurn. It also works for CD burning.

Every version of Nero that I've owned does that so I turn that feature off. Both my burners use smart burn so I don't worry about getting a bad burn on a CD. Burning a DVD is a different story and I don't trust that task to Nero.

Nero usually have updates concerning patches to fix those problems but they are very, very slow......

I uninstalled and reinstalled nero. i used the nero cleanup tool and reinstall.
I disable the "check the correct disc format before running' option in options---> misc tab

The problem still happens

Have you used this drive successfully with any other burning software? You may be having issues with the SATA controller on your MB supporting your burner (not all of them do).

The burner works well with other software like roxio easy cd creator or with Windows media. The problem is with Nero.

Update!

Nero started acting up again. I tried to burn a DVD and CD and it hung at Checking Discs. I let it sit for a while and it started the burn! It works, but it takas while to START the burn!

Could also just be another feature (bug) in the new software. I'm still using v6.x myself without any problems. When version 7 was released the forums were flooded with complaints/problems. I wouldn't expect v8 to be any different.
