Hi. I need to convert an ogg vorbis file to a divx/xvid file to play on my divx dvd player. I need the rez to be 720 x 400, as it is a 720p vid and it wouldn't play on my dvd player otherwise. I am running on the mac, but i can also encode on an xp pro computer if needs be, although the mac would be my preference as it is faster. If there is no way to do this, then I also have a copy of this video in wmv. Can you please help me out?

An OGM video is usually just a container with an Xvid AVI-format video stream, plus one or more Vorbis (ogg) audio tracks, and maybe one or more subtitle streams. Technically, the best method to end up with an AVI would be to demux/extract all of the above streams, convert the ogg audio streams to MP3, and remux them into the AVI video stream. Sounds simple, right?

For OS X, you might want to try MoKgVm2DVD.

    For Windows, some options:

VirtualDubMod: You can extract the streams from the OGM with this, and remux streams into the AVI. Or, for a more direct route, simply load the OGM, and save it to an AVI (with the video output options set to 'Direct Stream Copy.')

OGMDemuxer: A command-line demuxer, but a shortcut can be created for it on a Windows desktop, on which to drop OGM videos. All of the streams in the OGM will be extracted to the OGM's directory/folder.

There's also OGMtoAVI (http://ogmtoavi.sourceforge.net/ ), which I haven't yet tried, but it uses most of the same utilities.

(edit: I'm surprised the 'VirtualDubMod' and 'OGMDemuxer' names weren't turned into automatic links (to the programs' pages in VideoHelp's Tools section). Oh, well.)

Sorry mate. The mac solution didn't work (i'm on leopard btw). When i loaded the ogg file, it came up with an apple script error. I haven't tried the windows solutions yet, but i will in a moment.
