i have been using DVDfab, DvdShrink and imageburn (free programs) for a while now and lately dvd shrink has been giving me an error message "out of memory" There is an update to dvdshrink but you have to pay for it, is there any freeware program that works like dvd shrink that still works with the other free programs that i use?

No there isn't. Most likely it's a scam.
If you rip with latest DVDFab Decrypter, the rip, AFAIK, should be good enough for DVDShrink to process.

Mats is right. DVDShrink hasn't been updated in years. I don't know if the author just moved on to other things or was threatened with legal action like the author of DVD Decrypter was.

DVDRebuilder can shrink DVDs. It requires the use of an encoder, but you can use the free HC Encoder if you wish. It takes longer than DVDShrink, but it should give better quality results.

The author of DVDShrink is now (was?) employed by Nero, and is the man behind Nero Recode. I guess he had to drop his pet project as he got hired by Nero.
