  1. when l use progressive scan(480p only) to watch dvd, there is black line showing up on screen once in a while, very annoying, l want to ask what causes this problems? is it the component cable? or the tv? when l change it back to i scan or use the normal av cable, the problem seems gone or greatly reduced, l dont think it is the dvd player though, since my two dvd players display the same problem..

Experimemnt to see if the problem goes away by substituting

    1. A different DVD disc
    2. A different DVD player
    3. A different component cable
    4. A diffferent progressive TV

Aside from trying a different DVD, if you are having the same issue with two different DVD players, then the issue is likely your TV. You will have to live with 480i or get a new TV.

  4. I had a cheap Sanyo HDTV that I couldn't use progressive on without the picture screwing up. The Panasonic plasma I have now it doesn't make a bit of difference if I use 480i or 480p, the picture looks the same either way. Your TV probably upconverts either signal anyway, so unless you see a big difference on progressive, I wouldn't worry about it.
