I am converting old family VHS tapes to DVD. However, over time the tapes have deteriorated and many of them look like the tracking is bad, but cannot be adjusted to give a good picture. The images are "squiggley" for lack of a better word in the middle.
Is there anything I can do to restore these tapes or improve the quality when capturing or editing the images?
Thanks in advance,
Doug

Try to rewind them a few times, play and see if that fixed the problem .Also check tracking on vcr and make sure vcr heads are clean, good luck.

You may need a VCR with a line time base corrector (TBC). In addition, you may need a full frame TBC. Those will cost you about US$300 each. There are many threads here about VHS and TBCs.

Tbc wont help since its the vcr that cant correct the tracking, thats cause it was prolly done in ep mode on another vcr.
I think,therefore i am a hamster.
