I am converting old family VHS tapes to DVD. However, over time the tapes have deteriorated and many of them look like the tracking is bad, but cannot be adjusted to give a good picture. The images are "squiggley" for lack of a better word in the middle.

Is there anything I can do to restore these tapes or improve the quality when capturing or editing the images?

    Thanks in advance,
    Doug

Try to rewind them a few times, play and see if that fixed the problem .Also check tracking on vcr and make sure vcr heads are clean, good luck.

  3. You may need a VCR with a line time base corrector (TBC). In addition, you may need a full frame TBC. Those will cost you about US$300 each. There are many threads here about VHS and TBCs.
