    Hi all,

I installed The FilmMachine's new beta (hadn't had this program on my new Quad core before), found it not working well, and uninstalled it.

It appears the FilmMachine install/uninstall has frakked the "directshowsource" module of Avisynth, because every time I try to open a script in HC (or any encoder that uses Avisynth) containing directshowsource, I get the following error message:

"Error loading avisynth script, Directshowsource: Renderfile, the filter graph manager, won't talk to me."

I searched previous threads and unchecked the "connect to compatible filters only" box in ffdshow, but that didn't help. Reinstalling Avisynth and Haali didn't help, either.

MKV files play fine in WMP with ffdshow and Haali, but trying to open them in Avisynth with directshowsource gives me nothing but that error message.

Suggestions how to fix it would be appreciated. Thanks!

gotta love crappy beta software, feeling like an unpaid crash test dummy yet? if you have a restore point for system restore before the install of the filmmachine that might do it.

  3. Sounds like a missing or corrupt codec to me.

Well gadgetguy, reinstalling ffdshow seems to have fixed the problem so I guess you were right about the codec getting corrupted. HC is happily making a DVD-compliant MPEG-2 file from that 720p mkv as we speak.

Yes, aedipuss, I sometimes do feel like an unpaid crash test dummy, but since The FilmMachine is freeware and nobody put a gun to my head forcing me to download the new Beta (instead of the last stable version), I'm not gonna complain in this case.

    Thanks guys!
