    What is wrong with it exactly?
    and how does it 'crap out' my DVD Player? (Is there any evidence?)

    I find this interesting , I do agree that its unstable, I have had problems just getting it to work in past but version 8.0 has been OK , quicker and uses less disk usage (still 100% CPU with no option to lower) Ive only ever used WinAVI and Convert X to DVD and find that WinAVI finish is better while Convert X takes twice as long for lesser finish (but is good to use if you want to do other stuff whilst converting - low CPU usage) thats why I have BOTH, I use WinAVI if i can otherwise its VSO... also WinAVI allows to add multiple files to merge into one file, when i try with VSO it just outputs several files

    Below is a short list of important things that I was not allowed to do
    while using an old version of WinAVI:

    --- apply filters;

    --- choose GOP length;

    --- define GOP structure;

    --- choose different quantize matrices;

    On my 7-yo Pentium IV, TMPGEnc Plus needs 90 minutes to produce a 90-minute long
    VCD-compliant video, whereas WinAVI did the same job within 50 minutes or less.
    Both CCE and MainConcept were faster than TMPGEnc, but still slower than WinAVI.
    However CCE and MainConcept have always had a good reputation because
    they have always deserved it.

  3. I dunno what any of that is? lol
    i would like to try some other software, what do you recommend?

    I have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and DivX 6

    Im busy looking at FFdshow config, where can i learn what all these options are like Quantization etc?

    the only problems i have with Vdeo Converting (and want to fix) is what i call 'Frame-Dropping' (dunno if thats the right term or not) but where the camera pans fast or fast images appear to stutter... How can i stop that?

    thanks
