re:"no such file or directory" error
This time I re-downloaded Avanti, deleted everything in the Avanti folder and copied the original files there. It encodes OK now but I still don't see all the commands in the script window.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

You may need to play around a bit with the Avanti install directory path.
http://avanti.arrozcru.org/windows7.htm
If this helps, also check the preview options and run the test batch job. If this all works you probably have a stable path.
I still haven't found a decent solution for the Windows 7 issues.
EDIT:
In general, if it first worked ok and you get issues, you can also delete the "AVANTI.ini" file instead of doing a clean install.

Thanks for the submission!
Unfortunately Avanti can only run on 96dpi. Aside from the main gui, there are a lot of other windows that then should be resizable too and it would still cause issues.
After you change back to 96dpi, the gui should look normal again. I don't understand why it doesn't.
EDIT: You can try to delete the "AVANTI.ini" file and launch it again. Perhaps it stored some odd window positions?
Chris -
No, the window is fine once I exit, change to 96dpi and login again. I was just hoping for a quick fix so I can run it at 110dpi. It makes using it a bit annoying and confusing. If not, that's okay. Thanks for the software.

It's not clear how to
1. add a bunch of files, and convert them to something, there's no space where we can drag and drop a load of files
2. how can we rip the audio from music videos? Is there a demux option, one which will NOT transcode anything, but just rips out the audio, and that saves it somewhere?Looking for subtitles of: Höök tt0997023, Lime tt0269480, La clé sur la porte tt0077348. tt=iMDb.com Found Desideria tt0081724 subtitle! :-) -
there's a 312 kb CHM help file included with Avanti which explains iit all.
But OK! There's a button at the toolbar on top of the GUI that shows 123. That opens the job control manager for batch processing. You can drop your files on that. If not clear, select the managers window and press <F1> for help.
You can demux audio by disabling the video and select the "Copy Audio" option at the audio codec drowdown box.
If you find it to complicated, try FFQueue. Very user friendly -
Thanks!
Indeed, avanti is not VERY user friendly, but I've managed to get demuxed audio, despite the clunky, unconfusing gui (NOT), and the REALLY ubergeekish helpfile. It's llike, someone told them they'd win a prize for word density or something.
only thing I couldn't find: when copying audio or demuxing it, the default extension seems to be .aac. How can I change that to something else?
It's a little overgeeked, but apparently still functionally not-bad.
Reminds me of BeOS beAAC or whatever that audio conversion thing was called.
Anyway i will try the other one too, so then I have six ways of doing the same sh!d, instead of 2.
and idk which version of Avanti you're using, but in 0.80, the jobcontrol button shows not "123"
oh well.

1. Disable the video section of the gui if it has one.
2. Select the AAC codec at the audio section if there is one.
3. Press the button that shows a card-tray if there is one.
4. Select the left column of the AAC codec if there is one.
5. Press the ENTER key on your keyboard if it has one.
6. Change the default aac extension to whatever you want.
If nothing of above exists, you probably not using Avanti.
Hope this helps!Last edited by Chris K; 15th Aug 2014 at 16:23. Reason: numbers

Perhaps this explains why you couldn't find the button at its proper place (and why the gui looks clunky)?

Avanti isn't DPI aware as it is called by MS. Actually rather unusable at other than 96dpi. -
I suppose you're not on XP sp2 (like your profile says). Avanti is sensitive for the install path on Windows 7/8. Someone on Win 8.1 who got this message wrote he fixed it by running it in Win 7 mode?
Avanti simply tries to load a ini file section and when this fails, it throws that message. You can try the install suggestions from the Avanti web site.

I tested your software and is running very well for libx265 (ffmpeg).
Thank you.

@Marchand
Pictures look good! How does it look at fast motion?
Did you use the default x265 preset (fast) or changed it and perhaps added additional options?
@PowerFalcon
It's fine to download Avanti from trusted sites like VideHelp or Softpedia but I recommend to also visit the Avanti website for additional info. I'm still working on the Windows 7/8 compatibility issues and hope to fix it some day.
Chris -
Hi folks,
I'm a long-time user of the command line version of Ffmpeg, and have just downloaded Avanti 0.8.1. I've followed all of the installation instructions, as far as I can tell.
When I hit the "Start Process" button, the display immediately comes back with "Checking file paths and basic settings ..." and then the program hangs.
I'm using the Ffmpeg version built by Zeranoe on 10 Sep 2014.
Any ideas?
My set-up is Vista Business SP2 32-bit, 4GB, T7700 dual core processor. -
I don't know about Vista. Never had a Vista machine available to test but afaik, Vista already has Windows 7 like components included.
You could try the install suggestions given for Windows 7 ...

Hi Chris,
I've followed the advice for Windows 7, and no luck at all.
Sunny Coaster -
The behaviour you describe stiil looks much like one of the Windows 7 issues. There were not much complaints about Vista in the past.
There's a new version 0.8.2 since yesterday. Please try that one. It has changes to improve compatibility which might also have effect on Vista.
I also tested with the 10 september Zeranoe build but that should be fine.

Hi to all,
I'm not happy with it but the new Avanti 0.8.3 version generates two (false) positives at VirusTotal.com
One from a Chinese virus scanner, the other from McAfee.
At the time of the previous 0.8.2 release it was "clean" but that one now also gets a positive from McAfee where they seems to have invented the virus themeself ...
https://community.mcafee.com/thread/73942
This are the results of the new 0.8.3 version (the zip) ...
https://www.virustotal.com/nl/file/dccf408030a41c60cb4d02bcb4383cc246f884d348f74686e5f...28b6/analysis/
The "Avanti-GUI.exe" executable ...

The used "Gui4Cli.exe" script interpreter which seems to be OK ...

Note that Avanti IS the Gui4Cli script interpreter with the Avanti scripts attached as resources. So I think the virus scanners that report the positives see some suspicious pattern in the data at the resources?
I compiled the scripts + gui4cli on two different machines (Win7 and XP) and both resulting executables were bit exact when compared. I tried to get rid of the positives by changing the order of the scripts somewhat but that didn't help.
Last scans I did before uploading to the Avanti website were with updated AVG and Malwarebytes and they didn't found anything.
I hope this provides enough info for (potential) users to decide if this should be taken serious or not.

OK! Thanks for reporting.
Do you use or plan to use the subtitle burn or mux option for your native language?
I'm strugling with the problem that I currently cannot support UTF-8 and UNICODE subtitles which I assume is a problem for e.g. Japanese and Chinese and probably also for your native language.
I'm currently experimenting with muxing and burning unicode and and utf-8 ssa and ass subtitles and that seems to be not too difficult but I have to write a conversion routine in C++ for srt files. I'll try to get it in the next version.
Chris -
I speedup MP3 in a AVi Xvid with AVSynth using Avanti from 30 fps to 40 fps. Now without rendering we must mux the video with new FPS set to 40 with the speedup MP3 by using Virtualdub. How to get this in the Tool menu?
The Answer: Edit a script from Vdub and add three lines for inputfile external mp3 file and output file (see Virtualdub forum)
VirtualDub.Open(VirtualDub.params[0],1,0);
VirtualDub.audio.SetSource(VirtualDub.params[1]);
VirtualDub.SaveAVI(VirtualDub.params[2]);
save to _40fps.vdscript
Make a batch file _40FPS.bat
"C:\VIRTUALDUB 1.8\vdub" /i "C:\VIRTUALDUB 1.8\_40fps.vdscript" %1 %2 %3
(we are using the /i to inject fileinfo into virtualdub. The %1 is to pass tekst to batchfiles)
In Avanti make a new Tools Vdub_40FPS
with usertools
.........../_40fps.bat
and arguments:
"@source1" "@destination" "@source1|_40.avi"
Do not try other ways it will not work ( Usertools point to Virtualdub.exe and arguments /i ".........)
or the Avanti manuals Usertools cmd.exe and arguments batchfile in the double quotes )
Have Fun -
Hi nick_netherlands,
No idea why you have to go from 30 to 40 fps but I guess you have good reasons.
I was curious why you needed to involve vdub and if FFmpeg perhaps could do it on the fly. You can force the input frame rate with FFmpeg but with copy it only changes the avi header. Actually I think that vdub also only changes the header but there seems to be a small difference in how they do that. My example goes from 23.976 to 40 fps (couldn't find a 30 fps) but that makes no difference.
Code:Remuxed with FFmpeg: Input #0, avi, from 'F:/VirtualDub Capture2/avi_test_final.avi': Duration: 00:00:41.75, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 618 kb/s Stream #0:0: Video: mpeg4 (Simple Profile) (XVID / 0x44495658), yuv420p, 624x352 [SAR 1:1 DAR 39:22], 556 kb/s, 40 fps, 23.98 tbr, 40 tbn, 23.98 tbc Stream #0:1: Audio: mp3 (U[0][0][0] / 0x0055), 44100 Hz, stereo, s16p, 118 kb/s -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remuxed with Vdub; Input #1, avi, from 'F:/VirtualDub Capture2/input-f test3333.avi': Duration: 00:00:25.00, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1067 kb/s Stream #1:0: Video: mpeg4 (Simple Profile) (XVID / 0x44495658), yuv420p, 624x352 [SAR 1:1 DAR 39:22], 929 kb/s, 40 fps, 23.98 tbr, 40 tbn, 23.98 tbc Stream #1:1: Audio: mp3 (U[0][0][0] / 0x0055), 44100 Hz, stereo, s16p, 118 kb/s
For re-encoding, I could do it on the fly with FFmpeg only by using these settings at the audio tools and adding a redirected command at the script editor video settings.
Code:[USER_VIDEO_OPTIONS] -r 40 <<-- # additional commands
Perhaps there are other tools that can do it on the fly but in this case vdub is indeed the solution.

Hi Chris,
A lot of downloaded trainings video's and DVD can be speed up 25%. I need that for the cutting of the video's with cutassistance in high speed. For playing speedup is not a must (VLC can play 1.5x normal speed and time stretch audio).
We can intake AV information at a higher speed . And I'am not the only person who is cutting out all the garbage info in video's.
Two years ago I did this with Vdub. by using advanced audiofilter Time Stretch and edit the FPS header in one run. The audioquality is not very good .
Other ways with an audioeditor (demux audio, speedup audio and mux again with header adjust FPS video) often result in sync issues. And even using AViDemux 2.5 audio and video will not be in sync.
Avisynth 2.5 will do the job .
script in Avanti
:
DirectShowSource("@source1_path")
AssumeFPS(40,true)
TimeStretch(pitch=75)
SuperEQ("@SuperEQ_path/_highcut.feq")
AmplifydB(3)
Result is a speedup mp3 stream. Next step for AVC MP4 video.
Demux video with MP4box. Result a videostream test_track1.h264.
(For auto postprocessing in Avanti do the demux first.)
With user tools in Avanti: mp4box.exe
arguments:
-add "@source1|_track1.h264 :fps=40:delay=2" -add "@destination" -new "@source1|_40.mp4"
For Avi with AVC stream I use AVI2AVC and place this in the Avanti usertools
for Avi with Xvid stream I use Vdub. See previous post in this forum
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/282223-AVANTI-FFmpeg-Avisynth-GUI-%28support-thread...92#post2351792
And now the questions for Chris:
-I will look into your option with the mpeg/avi tools and rapport back to you.
- Why is virtualdub.exe not working with the arguments /s or /i. in Avanti?
Virtualdub will start with error "/i" no filename
I also tried to escape the forward slash ?? All other tools MP4box -.... and AVI2AVC - .... are working ok.
- Why is the CMD.exe with batchfile (The example in your manual with The double quotes) not starting with the /K or /C on my WinXP computer. The command window will show but it seem that the argument /K is not working in Avanti .
Nick -
I found the reason of both! It's a conflict with slashes and back slashes. This means that every tool that uses the slash for switches currently will fail.
If I understand well, virtualdub.exe doesn't accept command line arguments. It seems that vdub.exe need to be called for that?
I never used virtualdub from the command line through vdub.exe. After I did a quick fix, I've tried something simple with vdub.exe /hexview "file_path". Both from the command line and from Avanti, the hex editor opens but closes immediately thereafter. When I enter a fake path, it stays open with a file not found error.
Do you know a simple command line I could use to check things out?
Chris -
OK! It looks like the slash switch issue is fixed.
I now have some questions about running bat files with cmd.exe. This basically works but appears to be tricky because the bat file is not called from the folder where it exists. I'm testing with a bat file that runs ffprobe.exe and looks like this ...
Code:"ffprobe.exe" -print_format ini -hide_banner -show_format -show_streams -show_chapters "test.avi" > "test.txt"
This works fine when I run the bat file from the folder where it exists but I have to add the full path to ffprobe.exe, test.avi and test.txt when I run it from Avanti as a user tool.
Is there a workaround for that in the batch file itself (something with cd perhaps) ?
BTW; I added the user tools in 2008 and really can't remember why the cmd.exe paths had to be in double/double quotes I now use cmd.exe /k "f:\virtualdub capture2\probe_test.bat" and that works fine.
