    Hi, y'all! Happy New Year's!
I converted an avi file to MPEG-2 so it would work better with my standalone DVD player (Samsung DVD-P247A). I converted it with Magic Video Converter, then proceeded to burn it with Ashampoo Burning Studio 7. The file, when it was an avi and after i converted it, worked perfectly on the computer, but when i put it into my dvd player the audio was gone. I don't know whether I've done something wrong, I need a codec, or I need to convert it to a different file format. Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome to VideoHelp!

You're probably lacking some audio codec yes.
Use GSpot on the AVI to see what audio codec is in the AVI.
For easy AVI to DVD conversion, use convertx2dvd or (free) FAVC.
Never heard of "Magic Video Converter", but together with "Eazy" and "Express", "Magic" in the name of an application makes me wary.
If you like reading & learning, look under Convert left, AVI to DVD. 50 guides last time I looked.
Better yet: Get a DVD player that also plays AVI. Costs about the same as most commercial AVI to DVD offerings.

To add to Mats' excellent post, do note that if your AVI files have AAC audio that almost no DVD players that support Divx/Xvid files can play this kind of audio.

    Thank you oh-so-much.
With the aid of GSpot and convertx2dvd, the audio was restored.
And I wouldn't have stumbled across them without your help.
    Blessss youuu.
