I know this is stretching it, but you guys have helped so much on my past searches I thought I'd try.

I have an LG LHT764 Home theater system. It has a USB port that will support: "four primary partitionas of a drive- extension partitions are not supported." "Compatible with FAT16 and FAT32"

If I get a Maxtor HDD or something, and rip all of my CD's on it, can I park it next to the LG and plug it in via USB and play my music from the HDD through my home theater?

If anyone is doing this, thanks for the help!

It will depend on what type of files are supported on connected USB drives. Some players only recognize video. For audio, you will likely need to convert them all to mp3. Your manual should list the types of files supported on external drives.

Most external HDD are formatted as NTSC by default to support the large sizes. You may have to reformat your to FAT32 before transferring data across to it.
