Got the wife a Beko LCD TV for Christmas for the bedroom. Have put it on the wall and connected it up but am having a few probs with connections. The TV is situated a short distance away from the Video/DVD Recorder (too far to use a scart lead) so am using a 5m S-Video connector (poss. 10m, can't remember) Don't want to use RF Out as it's a Stereo TV and we'd then get Mono sound and a pretty poor picture.
On the back of the Panasonic there's a S-Video connector so used that at first. Got cable & freeview so plugged them into the back of the Panasonic using scart leads in AV1 & AV2. Everything looked crisp picture wise and I could record from AV1 or AV2 onto DVD. Then I tried the Video on the Panasonic..... There was no picture or sound which I thought was a bit odd since the DVD side works okay so I knew it was connected right.
Tried the connections menu but that didn't have any effect.
What I've found is that the DVD side of the Panasonic outputs via the S-Video out on the back of the unit but the VCR side doesn't. That appears (unless I'm doing something wrong) to output via scart AV1 only.
Now what I've used, is one of those scart block things that has audio out on and a s-video connector. This works okay but at a cost - The picture looks more like composite (it's lost the sharpness that I had before) and I can only record off one source (cable OR freeview) which ain't good when it's got a twin tuner so you can record one source to video and one source to DVD. Obviously, I could use the connections at the front (AV3) but I don't REALLY want cables hanging down from the front.
So, anyone got one of these and know if there's a way to get the VCR to output via the S-Video connector or is this just the way the machine was made? (ie: The s-video connector is solely for the DVD side)
Alternatively, is there something you can get that allows you to fully utilise a scart socket as most units have a scart socket that is both in/out at the same time (ie: it can take a signal in and output one at the same time) But how can you connect a TV to it as well as a Freeview box for example by only using the ONE scart socket? The leads I've all got only let you use these sockets as 'in' OR 'out' NOT BOTH. At least if I could solve this problem I'd be able to utilise the twin tuner which is my main concern at the moment (The picture ain't that bad seeing as it's only a 17" LCD set) Is this possible? How do people manage if their video has one scart, their freeview box has one scart and their TV has one scart? Are they restricted to using RF Out??
Cheers

That unit uses both common outputs (DVD & VHS) and DVD only ouputs. This appears to be labeled on the back on the unit. If not, it is covered in the manual (p15). The separate DVD only outputs are provided so that you can utilize higher quality connections (such as component cables).
