Hi all, anyone experience this? Everytime I import a pretty big wmv file 1hr+ almost dvd quality (640x480) then premiere pro 3 will become unresponsive. I have waited for few min and need to clos it down. Any work around to this?

It may well be that Premiere Pro isn't designed to work with the WMV format. It's aimed at semi to top-end pro users and they work with DV, HDV and uncompressed.

    Try Windows Movie Maker instead.

Well I am not editing it, just want try to convert it to mpeg2 dvd. I have tried several wmv that is OK with tmpgenc and all give same problem under premiere pro. Will the premiere 'lite' version will be better with wmv? I am suprise the apps with premiere pro caliber don't like wmv!

Also anyone get avi synth to work with premiere? I tried the plug in and it crash.

In that case, you need to find a tool that will accept WMV as an input and that will also convert to MPEG2 for DVD. Maybe FAVC or DVD Flick.

Highly unlikely. "Lite" versions of applications tend to be the same in essence, but with the less fancy / professional capabilities.

Any apps with true "pro" calibre (not just in their name) are designed for pros, funnily enough. And pros don't work with crappy formats like WMV - hence why apps like Premiere Pro tend not to work with formats like WMV.

    Found the answer here. http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=332447

But I wonder how long does it take. I always close it after 2-3mins and I have decent dual core procs. Gonna try to wait for longer time next time. I works with many format and I thought 'pro' means that . Thanks anyway.
