I'm not sure if I am in the right place, but I figured that I'd give this a shot and see if anybody has any ideas.

I got a JVC GZ-MG130U for Christmas, onto which I have recorded much merriment. When I attempted to pull the information off the hard drive (USB cable to laptop), my computer is not registering that the camera is attached.

I have tried with Nero, Roxio Creator, the software that came with the camera, Windows Explorer....nothing. I have used other USB cables, on the off chance the cable that came with the camera was damaged - no go. I have tried the process on three computers and no play. The only thing that I can see is that there is an issue with the USB port in the camera itself.

My question is if anybody knows that this is a common issue with this camera, or did I get lucky and buy a dud?\

    Thanks very much.

With what you have described as trying, it sounds like a problem with the camera.

And I assume the computer specs you listed are for your laptop? It not, you might want to post those.

There may be some users of that camcorder here that can give better info.

    And welcome to our forums.

The cable that comes with the MG series is a ? pin to 6 pin...
Most Laptops have a 4 pin USB port....
Where are you connecting the cam???
With XP.....it immediatly recognizes an "external mass storage device"........

Have you tried first setting your camera power to off, then attatch the USB cable to the computer and camera, then turn the camera on.
On the camera move the set lever to PLAYBACK ON PC, then press down. On the PC double click on [EVERIO_HDD] or [EVERIO_SD] to access the cameras video and or photo folders.
