Hi, i'm new to this forum, i've already tried the search field but it came out useless. There was this topic where other guys asked the same question but got no answer, also i've google'd it till exhaustion with no luck.

The thing is, this dvd player has a crappy subtitle font that won't even show the numbers, i don't know what the standard font is but i'm guessing it should be at least bold and not some kids-that-play-with-fonts-on-photoshop sort of font that one can barely see.

It really bugs me because it was a gift for my father . Can't blame a guy for introducing his father to the wonders of Divx.

Anyway, does anyone know how to change this, from what i've gathered there's an australian official firmware update, will this do the trick ? Once i updated a Mitsai 009 that had the same problem with new firmware and it fixed it but i'm afraid to test this in my father's dvd player.

Any suggestion other than go back to the store and change it?

    Thanks.

Btw, i don't know if it helps but i'm from Portugal.

You won't be able to change the font. Firmware updates almost NEVER help with font issues. I know of some firmware for the Philips DVP-642 that was hacked by a guy in Brazil to fix some Portuguese specific font problems (~ ^ and the accent marks on vowels), but this was very unusual. Older players from Asia used to have firmware hacked all the time to fix various issues, but these days it's just about impossible to find anyone who can hack firmware for players from big companies like Samsung. I'm sorry, but I doubt that there will be a fix for your problem.

If this helps you any, Divx subtitle fonts are OK on Philips DVD players.
