    STUPID QUESTION PROBLABLY BUT SINCE I DONT HAVE A CASSETTE CAMCORDER I JUST WANT TO KNOW BEFORE I PURCHASE ONE.

    What format?

    Analog formats - capture card
    DV and HDV - IEEE-1394 (aka Firewire, ILink)
    miniDVD and AVCHD - usually USB2, sometimes Ethernet.

    XDCAM - USB2, Ethernet or SDI
    DVCPro - SDI
    HDCAM - SDI

    No kinda like IEEE-1394 (Firewire). If you don't have it get a card like these.
