  1. Is there any way to get rid of the annoying scrolling text from videos? I downloaded a dvd-rip which is in avi format and it has them. Yuck!

Can someone suggest me a good method to remove them? I would really appreciate.

  2. Hi-

What kind of scrolling text? Like someone's logo or watermark, or something like that? If across the top or bottom, you can crop it out or cover it up with black easily enough, but it will require reencoding. If in the middle of the picture, you'll have to learn to love it, or just cut out the parts that have it.

Or stop downloading garbage from the internet. I consider anything with a logo or watermark applied by some encoder for whatever reason as nothing but pure garbage.

  3. Scrolling text which serves the purpose of advertising, they are at the bottom of the movie! If its just for a second, I can put up with it but it comes through out the movie. I don't mind re-encoding. I'm just looking for a better method, as I don't think cropping would do the trick, because a considerable part of the movie will get cut. It might look crap.

If you are going to download videos with superimposed logos or messages then you have three choices

    1. Live with it.

    2. Don't download this type of crap. If you are donwloading a DVD rip then by definition there is a DVD out there. Buy the DVD instead of coming here and breaking the forum rules.

    3. Crop the video

The so-called logo removal tools only work for stationary logos, and don't work particularly well a lot of the time. The results are often as bad or even worse than the problem.

  5. Downloaded a DVD rip? Hmmm...

Text the purpose of advertising?! The only DVDs I have ever seen with any kind of scrolling text during the program were screeners for films not yet in theaters or on home video. I'm curious. Without naming the product, what does the text you see advertise?

If you don't want to crop it out, the only other thing to do is blur it and that's often just as distracting.

Well, I would like to make it clear I did not intend to break the forum rules and the scrolling text was not added by the person who uploaded the movie. It comes by default. Apparently, even the original DVD has them.

Some films are extremely hard to find, so I don't see anything wrong in grabbing a copy if you find it online.

If I could find a clear copy I would definitely not hesitate to buy it. The place where I live the rare classics are not easily available *shrugs*
