  1. I am trying to burn an ISO image with ImgBurn and it starts fine says it is writing but nothing happening on the DVD drive at all. over 15 minutes and just sits there. arghhhhh.

Iused DVDFab HD Decrypter then DVDShirk to and ISO image and then burn the image with IMGBburn, but it keeps making coasters and not woking. Iis there a better process or program(s)?

What is going on? Worked fine last Friday.

    Thanks

try using VERBATIM dvd media instead of the ones you're using. MEMOREX & TDK are not the best quality dvd media to use. if the burns continue to fail even with using the VERBATIM dvd media then it's probably time to buy a new dvd burner. your PIONEER 109 is probaby dying a slow death. also please post your computer specs in your profile because it would be easier in the future to assist you with questions.

I have had good luck with LG, and I also have a Lite-On. That's best, I think, install 2 different kinds. If one won't work, the other one probably will. The Lite-On doesn't have rip-guard so is fast for ripping out of the box. It's pretty noisy when it revs up, but usually works OK. Occasionally it gives a cyclic redundancy error when ripping, in which case it may work if the disc is cleaned, or in that case the LG usually works when the Lite-On won't. The LG seems more forgiving of scratched and dirty discs. The LG can be patched to remove the rip-guard so it's as fast as the Lite-On. Both burn OK, but my feeling is the LG burns a bit better quality. So I use the Lite-On for ripping and the LG for burning, usually. Those are the only two kinds I've tried, and no doubt some others are as good or better. Some say certain chipsets are better than others, but that's getting more technical and I never considered it (yet). I bought my last ones from Newegg and no complaints. They don't cost much so I figure to replace them every couple of years.

Log file is found by going to "Help" -> "ImgBurn Logs..."

But all the "usual" responses apply first: Make sure you have the latest firmware for your burner, and use good quality media, Verbatim (as budz mentioned) and TY are the ones most often recommended here and in the ImgBurn forums.

You can also search over at the ImgBurn forums (http://forum.imgburn.com/) for you specific error - chances are someone has had a similar problem.

    Hope that helps,
    Jim

Your Pioneer writer is hardly "media tolerant". The media reports on this site are peppered with will poor burns on many different types of including TY and Verbatim.

Either keep trying until you find media it likes or scrap the beast.

Search the DVD writer section for this model and you can see for yourself the media reports posted.

Get a SAMSUNG S203B if you have SATA connections or get a PIONEER 112D or 115 which is a PATA internal dvd burner like your PIONEER 109. My last recommendation would be a LG H62N drive. Check out the dvd burner forums at CdFreaks.com. They have a SAMSUNG, PLEXTOR,BENQ, PIONEER, LG, LITEON, NEC & BTC Forums. The SAMSUNG SATA S203B drive is currently the top drive at the moment. If you don't have SATA connections on your mobo then get the PIONEER 112D or 115. The 115 is currently getting good reviews. I'm waiting for Newegg.com to stock the SATA PIONEER 115. Not that I need another dvd burner since I already have over 26 different ones. My motto goes like this every different brand of dvd burner has a purpose one way or another! Some brands have better reading capabilities than others.
