I have a Seagate 500GB FreeAgent external drive connected via USB to DVP5960 and it has been giving me a lot of troubles. DVP5960 often shows "device is not supported" message but if I turn the power off and try again multiple times (sometimes half-dozen times) it finally recognizes the drive and I'm able to access the files in the drive. Seagate is already in FAT32 format and what's frustrating is it eventually works after multiple tries so I'm not sure incompatability is an issue here. I have a several DVP5960 and they all behave this way with this drive so it's not a mechanical issue either. Please help....this is very frustrating.

Thanks but the link you attached just shows general info. about the drive's USB and I'm not sure if it addresses or provides solution to issues like mine..where hard drive works some of the time. Any help is great appreciated.

  3. Does your drive have its own power supply? If not, the USB port on the 5060 may not be able to supply enough power.

Some drives work and others don't (covered in the link provided above which you don't want to read). We aren't talking about PC's, so it shouldn't be expected what ALL USB devices work with a DVD player. The biggest issues to overcome are power (for drives that receive power from the USB cable) and formatting. Aside from that, there isn't anything that you can do to "make it work". Your best bet, is to get a drive that is known to function correctly with your player.
