How to make settings on VLC stay permanent

I have been playing around with vlc and can't seem to make the settings stay.
I click on settings->extended gui->enable->brightness(slider) and then play a
video for which the settings have no effect. The settings all return back to default.
How can I make the settings permanent.

I don't know if you can for the extended GUI, but you can change the image properties filter in 'Preferences' and it should stay after clicking, 'Save'.




Oh, and I almost forgot, make sure you put a 'checkmark' in the top filter menu for 'Image Properties Filter' to activate it. It's in the box right above the 'image adjust' that's highlighted.
