well too small means that not all the tv screen area is utilised for displaying the image..
it is surrounded on the 4 sides by black area.. the picture is in the middle..'the image doesnt fit the screen' might be a good description -
672x288 isn't going to fill it in any event, even a widescreen TV set. It should play with black above and below.
I'll assume you have a widescreen TV set. Make sure your player is set up to output for widescreen TV sets (aka 16:9). -
no,its a normal tv.. i will try that.. anything which i should differently in the encoding section???
its an avi file, converted from mkv -
thanx man..it worked..the setting in my player was 'widescreen'..
changed it to 4:3 mode... it worked...grttt thanx for helping me out on that stupid
question -
There is no complete standard for Divx/Xvid playback by standalone players. I am running two currently, and both handle the same files differently. The Pioneer correctly switches between widescreen and fullscreen files without a problem, and sends appropriate flags through to the TV (a 4:3 with widescreen switching). The LG, on the other hand, sends everything through as 16:9 if it is set to 16:9, even if the source is obviously not. In which case I get the same problem as you have. I find that for 4:3 material I have to manually change the setting on the LG or I get window boxing. Obviously the Philips has the same poor quality handling as the LG models.
Read my blog here.

cant exactly say its poor quality handling... there is a video setup option, and i have changed the option there...so now it automatically displays any file according to its resolution.. i dont hav to do it manually everytime..LG 2 might hav such an option
