What do you mean by 'too small' ? If you are getting bars all the way around then you have not set up your TV or player (or both) correctly.

  3. well too small means that not all the tv screen area is utilised for displaying the image..
it is surrounded on the 4 sides by black area.. the picture is in the middle..'the image doesnt fit the screen' might be a good description

  4. 672x288 isn't going to fill it in any event, even a widescreen TV set. It should play with black above and below.

I'll assume you have a widescreen TV set. Make sure your player is set up to output for widescreen TV sets (aka 16:9).

There is no complete standard for Divx/Xvid playback by standalone players. I am running two currently, and both handle the same files differently. The Pioneer correctly switches between widescreen and fullscreen files without a problem, and sends appropriate flags through to the TV (a 4:3 with widescreen switching). The LG, on the other hand, sends everything through as 16:9 if it is set to 16:9, even if the source is obviously not. In which case I get the same problem as you have. I find that for 4:3 material I have to manually change the setting on the LG or I get window boxing. Obviously the Philips has the same poor quality handling as the LG models.

  8. cant exactly say its poor quality handling... there is a video setup option, and i have changed the option there...so now it automatically displays any file according to its resolution.. i dont hav to do it manually everytime..LG 2 might hav such an option
