I'm wanting to cut and edit a dx50 avi.

In virtualdub I have smart rendering selected but when I go to the compression list, divx 5 isn't listed.
I checked the vid with avicodec and it says it's supported. Gspot says the codec isn't installed.

I have installed divx codec 6.7 only. Could someone explain what I need to do to get divx 5 as a compression option in virtualdub?

  2. Divx6 uses the same fourcc as Divx 5, DX50. So you can use Divx 6 (the compressed video produced by Divx6 is fully compatible with a Divx5 decoder). Put the codec in single pass quality based encoding and set the quantizer to 3 or 4.
