Can't download files

I have Internet Explorer 7 and I didn't have internet service for a few months. I have internet service back and I can't download files, my Adobe Flash Player doesn't work, and I can't watch videos(YouTube, and when I go on a site with a Windows Media Player video it won't play). Does anybody know what might be wrong or what can help?

Is your internet access functional? Can you browse websites? Google search etc...? (I know you can post here, but it might be from a different connection/computer?)

Or is this problem limited to downloads and streaming media files?

Do a windows update manually, because microsoft released a patch today fixing some connectivity problems with IE

Are you using a firewall?

Yes I can browse the internet and no, I'm my firewall isn't active. I will try your idea out.

I went to microsoft.com and I didn't see any updates.

The patch was to fix connection problems caused by a previous patch LOL

Restart your router, it can do this sometimes.

What happens when you try to download? Do you get an error or a blank page? An exact description is very helpful.

Also, what type of internet connection do you have and how is it connected to your computer?
