  1. Hi folks. I've just registered.

I'm hoping to make a few mates here.

    I'm a guy from Wales.

I'm hoping to find out a bit about connecting my TV to a media pc I want to build.

It's at the planning stage at present, due to a shortage of sheckles.

I am not sure of which TV card to go with. I'm going to be using a media pc case so it looks more DVD / Video camouflaged. By the look of what's on sale, I'll be going with a mini ITX mobo.

If I could use my existing telly, it would cut out a lot of the cost involved.

    Merry Crimble to you all.

    Phil.

There are many MicroATX motherboards out there suited to HTPC use. I'm guessing your TV only has composite video inputs? S-video is better, Component is better than that, and most times DVI or HDMI (Digital) inputs are the best. But you may find a MicroATX MB with most of those.

The way I do it is select the CPU first, AMD or Intel and the speed you can afford. More is always better. Then look at available motherboards. Next is memory to match the motherboard and operating system. And, of course, it all has to fit in your PC case. I would also recommend at least two hard drives. One for the OS/Programs and one large one for video use.

    And welcome to our forums.
