    Hi,

I'm also looking for an easier way to backup / transcode my HDDVDs

I've Nero 8.2.8 with the HDDVD/BR plugin updated to the latest version. Unfortunately, Nero Recode doesn't want to open my rebuilt EVOBs . It returns this error: "Unable to import file... Please make sure that the selected file is a valid and non DRM protected video"

The odd thing is that Nero ShowTime opens and plays my EVOBs without any problem and so does MPlayer so the EVOBs I've rebuilt with EVOdemux should be okay.

Any suggestion ? I'll try to reinstall the whole package and see if something changes.

Using 0.0.19, which crashes on the import of any EVO file. (only have one title on the HDD to play with ATM) If I untick the options for "Asynch I/O" it will load the file, then freeze.

Krepax-I just realized I had the same issue when trying to load my rebuilt evo into recode. I have no idea why the drm is an issue or how to deal with it. I used AnyDVD to rip it which should have taken care of this.

What I ended up doing was opening a avisynth script file (in Nero Recode) that loaded a graphedit file using haali splitter and wmv encoder as my filters on the rebuilt evo. This worked perfectly for the video, but this is also why I had no audio I guess.

How do you add an audio stream using nero vision? What I am doing is by no means the most ideal route but at the moment its the only thing I can get to work at all.

Found it and it works. Now, what do I set the output for to create a HD-DVD disc?

  7. dieselbolts i think i had to use nero vision and not recode. vision let me add the evo file as the video. Then I loaded my audio file(created with eac3to and created an ac3 file my evodemux extentions werevc1/eac3) into the audio part of the make a movie. What i dont like is that i cant crop in vison as i can in recode.

cdan what are you using nero? Not sure i understand your question are you trying to burn an actual hd-dvd

No, just create a set of files to burn to a DVD5 or DVD9. Nero8.

    DirectShowSource("grp.grf", fps=23.976, framecount=190736, audio=false)

You can add the line Trim(0, 3000) if you want to test things out....this will only process the first 3000 frams.

The grp.grf file is a graphedit graph.
    1. Graph > Insert Filters > Direct Show Filters > Haali Media Splitter > It will ask for a file and open your rebuilt evo
    2. Insert another filter > WMVideo Docoder DMO
    3. Connect the video out of the evo to the input on the WMVideo
    4. Save the graph in the same location as you plan on saving your AVS file

Load up the avs file into recode and you are on your way. The only thing is you will have an "audioless" .mp4. IF anyone knows how to get the audio taken care of, I would appreciate it.....ideally as part of the Nero Recode process. I even tried using gdsmux to mux an ac3 file with the mp4 but that didn't seem to work.

  11. Im having the same problem only thing that workd for me is to reload your new vidoe in nero vison as the video segment and then insert your audio file but its and pain to have to re-encode the same video again.

my problem with my avs script is the my batman begins is 140 minutes. now hd- dvd are 23.976 fps. my graph is close to yours but when i load in showtime of virtdub the whole video isnt there i have to add alot more frames which makes the time code more than 140 minutes. My filters were sonic filters the elcard. I followed this

Dieselbolts: thanks for the answer. I've discovered that a program called "Any video converter" is able to handle EVOBs. The crippled trial version of this software, however, has only a few options available and, although I'm able to rebuild an EVO file into a readable AVI, the file is somehow corrupted.

    I'll try with Vision today.

  14. zerocool try to put the folder in the c: drive not on the desktop i ahd to keep playing with it until it worked

    1) put in c drive
    2) errors as far not not findin codec change ac3 bitrate 192, 448, 640
    3) change force filter between default, nero and sonic (may have to find the sonic cineplayer hd-dvd decoder 4.2 {not 100% sure about this part})

I think I found the reason why Nero Recode doesn't like my EVOBs.

It's the EAC3/DD+ audio streams in them. If I rebuild an EVO with only a video stream, it will be opened in Recode and processed. I tried both with VC-1 and AVC encoded clips.

A shame because that means that audio must be processed separately and then joined with the output file.

zerocoool- also you could take a look Ea3ctoGUI config setting file to make sure all paths look in order.

BTW - eac3to does NOT work if you have Nero 8......great!

Really....according to the author "(Nero 8 won't work!)".

I always get the following error - "Getting "Nero Decoder 2" instance failed. I have Nero Decoder 2 installed, but I guess Nero 8 makes the decoder unavailable to anything outside nero. This is why its failing. Do you know what you did as a workaround? I would prefer not to unistall Nero 8 and reinstall Nero 7

  19. I dont think when i got it to work it used the nero decoder. I think actually it was the Sonic decoder now that i think about it

  20. guys i got the sonic decoder. i extracted the eac3to to a folder on c drive and also eac3togui to the same folder. when i demuxed the audio i saved it to the same folder and renamed it to eac3. i went into settings on the gui and found the eac3to.exe and when i open the audio file it opens and shows the output folder as the same but when i click convert the msdos comes up it goes but then says it can't find source file. this is how the file is named "FEATURE_1_MERGED.DD+.stream.00.eac3. is this
    Quote Quote
  21. Try to rename the file to something simple like audio.eac3 and see what happens i had the same problems you had but i got it to work. Are you using vista or xp?
    Quote Quote
  22. thanks ultraman will try what you suggest and i'm using xp
    Quote Quote
  23. Im using vista so i have to make sure to run eac3exe as admin., . in my drive c i see it like this
    eac3 folder
eac3exe (not in the eac3 folder above)
    my file named audio.eac3

I use the sonic decoder but i have to try one of the following

448 ac3 bitrate seems to work the most but once in a while i have to use 192 ac3 bitrate to not gate any errors

Also i sorry but i forgot what are you trying to do? Convert the video to another format or make a regular dvd out of the file

  24. what i'm trying to do is make a mkv file but who knows what i'll end up doing
    Quote Quote
  25. i would like to thank everyone for your help especially ultraman

what i did downloaded the sonic program installed that

when i demuxed the audio with evodemux went under options and named audio to eac3 and saved to eac3 folder

then made a eac3 folder in my c drive

extracted the eac3to files to the eac3to folder but put the eac3to.exe file outside of the folder in c drive

then extracted the eacegui to the eac3 folder

then renamed the audio file to audio.eac3

then opened the gui clicked settings to make sure it pointed to the eac3.exe file

then set the bitrate to 640 and the decoder to sonic clicked convert and about 10 min. had an ac3 file

it plays in vlc. so once again thanks.

  27. just to let people know if you have an mkv file there's a program on this site called gotsent and it turns it into an mp4 file so you can just burn to disc if you have a dvd player that can handle mp4. i do this for my ps3 then i put the file on a 4 gig memory card put it in the ps3 and play it right off the memory card

What we all need is a RipIt4Me type of thing, that will maintain HD resolution.
