When I try to edit the frame rate for a few frames I selected on an avi video, it edits the whole thing and the video is messed up.
How do I edit 10 minutes worth of frams in a 90 minute video in VirtualDubMod?

AVI doesn't support variable frame rates. The whole file must be one frame rate.

You would have to cut out that part, save it in 'Direct stream mode' and treat it separately, then add it back in and adjust it's position. For a operation like that, I open a second VDM and do the changes there, then add it back in the first VDM.
But you will have to match the original framerate to add it back. I have adjusted the source framerate, then used the framerate conversion to change it back to the original rate. Depending on what you want to do, it may have a bit of 'stutter'.
I'd try it with a short sample AVI to test different settings. I'm assuming you want to add a 'slow motion' or 'fast motion sequence'? You could also try to 'Decimate' the clip, but that may also make it 'stutter'. You will need to lose the original audio also as it will sound strange. -
How do I cut video from one VDB to another?
I've tried many things and it won't paste. -
Splitting:
1) Video -> Direct Stream Copy
2) File -> Open Video File
3) mark-in, mark-out
4) File -> Save as AVI (saves segment from mark-in to mark-out)
Repeat 3 and 4 for each segment.
Joining segments:
1) Video -> Direct Stream Copy
2) File -> Open Video File
3a) File -> Append AVI Segment (automatically if they're numbered sequentially)
3b) File -> Append AVI Segment (if they're not numbered sequentially, manually append each)
4) File -> Save as AVI.
When joining, audio and video must have the same codec and similar settings.
