I use TMPGENC to encode my ripped DVD or my capture videos. The problem is that it takes 24 hours. How do I speed up TMPGENC? I think it can go faster, but I have not seen a good guide/ faq on how to do this.
I have a 450 Mhz K6-2 processor (Win98SE) with 128 Megs RAM, 18 Gig hard drive, and 24 x CDR drive, and separate DVD drive. I can play a DVD (via ATI Radion PCI board) with no problems. I can play an SVCD via WinDVD with no problems.
Here are the possibilities:
1. Get a faster machine. I think this will cost $500. $200 for WIN2000 software/, and registered TMPGENC. $300 for Fast dual processor Motherboard with CPU(s) and memory. For a total of $500. Makes me think about just getting a DVD R instead, as that will do what I want mostly. Maybe I will wait for DVD R to come down in price.
2. Optimise TMPGENC. It seems like the settings are not fully optimised as I can do lots of other tasks while this is working. Any guide suggestions?
