Freeware that will take a mp4 and do a one button color restoration?

I had my1960's 8mm professionally transfered to dvd. They did nothing about fixing the lame colors.

I would like to be able to know if there is a freeware that will take this mp4 and do a one button press color restoration. Something similar to what adobe photoshop does to old photographs.

Can it be done?
big learning curve or simple?
freeware or must $$$$ ?

Depends on the video. You should post a 5MB segment of it up here and we'll take a look. It might be easy, or it might be impossible. It completely depends on the video.

Depending on the format, you should be able to cut a section out with VirtualDub. VD or VDM can also use quite a few filters for color corrections with AVI type formats. I would also recommend the Color Mill filter in VDub or VDM for adjustments : colormill2.1.1.zip But you will have to re-encode to make these adjustments.

The conversion house gave you the video on DVD, right? How is it MP4 ?

The DVD is a video TS folder with vobs.
No copyright or any type of proetction.

I can not even do a copy for copy.
I tryed Nero 7 ultimate, shrink fab and the best I get is a dvd with no sound.

Step by step.
1. Put ogiginal copy into dvd player. Hit copy and pasted contents into new folder.
2.opened Nero did a burn
results = no sound.

Step by step with decrypter
1. Decrypted ( never had protection)
2. ended up with a TS Video folder
3. Went to shrink (nothing needed compessing)
4. Burned using shrink
No sound

Just copy the vob files off the DVD as though they were regular files. No need to do any decrypting. If you put the disk into a DVD player, does it have sound?

You might drop one of the VOBs from the decrypted VIDEO_TS folder into Gspot 2.70. Check that one against one from the original DVD, especially in the audio section. You can also post a screenshot here from Gspot from both or either:

Yes, The DVD has sound. I load the disk copy and paste files into folder then I am able to take any program ie shrink, load the files do a preview and it has sound.
I could try g spot !
What bothers me most is that I shouldnt have to constantly be downloading freeware programs everytime I want to burn a regular old unprotected dvd. I have nero, and nero is a pretty good program. I just want simple plug press one button and play. I do not burn enough dvds to make it worth alearning new products. This is frustrating.

I used super 8 instead of g spot. Everything was AC3 for audio. That includes copy and paste and files run through decrypter.
the video is all mpeg 2.

Now I cannot hear audio on any mpeg 2 that I have ever made. The same dvd will give sound on a standalone player but not on my computer.
Only recent changes I have made is a Nero update. Both events seem close in time.

It is only affecting mpegs that I created not Mpegs created elsewhere.

Does anyone have any idea?

New Development.

Everything Has sound If I play it through Nero only.
Nero blocked me from listening from anyother Player.
How come and how do I fix that?

Nero has apparently tried to take over your video playback.

The specs of the original video and the copy look fine. I would try VLC for playback instead. It's uses it's own codecs and ignores installed codecs. If it works properly, then you likely have a codec problem or a association problem, at least for playback.

Just looking at all that, Nero is not your friend. Maybe OK for encoding, but it looks like it messed up your playback. AC3 audio should be fine on any settop player. For most computer software players, you need a AC3 codec installed.

I'm not sure if you can easily remove the Nero player, but you can change the associations of your videos to different software players.
