  1. Not sure where I should post this thread.

I am looking for a inkjet printer to print labels on CD or DVD. Any recommendations?

  3. To print directly on cds and dvds in my opinion either an Epson or a Canon.

    http://pixma.ulmb.com/

I have a Canon Pixma ip4300 and an Epson r260. If you are in the us the canon print on cd/dvd is disabled. The link i put up has instructions (just hitting button combinations). You will also need to buy the cd tray which i got off ebay. The canon prints faster than the epson and uses less ink but you can buy a cis.

  4. I used to use an Epson R200 and it did a good job but the ink was very expensive. I currently use a HP Photosmart D5160 and it also does a good job of printing and HP ink is much less expensive. I only use manufacturer inks since I had a bad experience with third party ink in one of my previous printers.
IMO the tray design in the HP is far superior, but I know that Epson has changed the design of the tray since the model I used, so that may not be true with the more current models.
Another consideration... the software that comes with the Epson to design labels is far superior to the software that comes with the HP, and unfortunately you can't use the Epson software with the HP printer.

  5. I use an Epson R320 with the included print program that comes with it.
    It does a great job.
I buy 3rd party ink cartridges off Meritline.com which has solved the expensive ink issue.

Does the Acoustica software allow you to use your own images or just the images that they provide?

You can use your own images. I've been able to drop in any .jpg I need/want. I researched this program quite a bit before buying it. I am glad I spent the ~$22. In my opinion this is very easy to use yet powerful and flexible software.
    Happy Printing!

  9. I wondered because the site mentions the "1000s" of images available, but it doesn't say anything, that I could find, about using your own. Thanks.

You're very welcome. My requirements were pretty simple when looking for a DVD printing solution. I wanted to be able to create/print a professional looking DVD that was limited only by my imagination. I have found it with that software/printer combination. The resulting product is very professional looking discs.

It seem some folks like the results/look of the "watershield" disc's or spraying a sealer/fixative - I've not tried either - nor likely will in the near future. Been waiting for years for affordable (read cheap) DVD printing solutions. I am amazed that the quality rivals (in some cases better than) manufactured/pressed/screenprinted/storebought DVD's

The D5160 uses 95 / 98 ink cartridges. They are IMO, great cartridges and if you pickup some quality ink, they are very easy to refill.
