What I thought was an old Betamax tape is actually an old U-Matic videocassette tape (Scotch UCA 10) that has some old family footage on it. I'd like to transfer it to DVD and give as a gift but have no idea how to do it. I did a general online search and looks like I need a U-Matic player. But I don't know any of the specifics/nuances of doing this. I searched ebay and there are some U-Matic players relatively cheap but this is the only tape I need converted. Wil a regular video transfer place convert for me? Any suggestions/ideas?

Take it to a pro level dub house. It might cost you $25-50. Or you can spend much more in money/effort to do it yourself.

    Google "Transfer" "UMatic"

Umatic wasn't a consumer format. Used mainly for broadcast of TV shows. Used decks are usually sold "untested" and "as-is" and many do not have consumer outputs. Most only have balanced audio and BNC connectors for video. You would need adapters to use it. Your best bet is a video transfer service.

Thanks. Figured it'd be easier to just have it done by 'pros'. Again, thanks.
