    hello people
I am trying to put movies onto my ipod i dont have a problem decrypting the movie im using dvdfab. I then use vob merge to merge the files. I can play the vob merged file and it isnt out of audio sync. The minute i turn the vob file into an mp4 file using 3gp converter or any video converter the file goes out of sync. I have also tried ipod converter the same thing happens. I never used to have this problem it started recently. Any assistance would be appreciated.

What audio format is the 'VobMerged' file? And what audio format does ipod use?

I'm thinking AC3 for the extracted file. You might try converting it to WAV format before encoding to the ipod format. It will make the audio file large and you will probably end up with just a stereo audio channel, but it might help. If your ipod converter can accept elemental files, (Separate audio and video) it would be fairly easy. If not, you would have to mux the file back with the video before encoding. Complex audio like 5.1 surround sound from a DVD may cause problems with some encoders. WAV is more stable most times for encoding.

If this is a new problem, then you need to look back though your conversion steps and see what might have changed.

    And welcome to our forums.

ok back from work. Thank you for replying redwudz. I am very very new to all of this. All the information that i have managed to gather about converting to my ipod is from this site. i have no idea what audio format the vob merged file is lol. I know the out of sync file is a H.264 320x240 aac sterio 48khz file, hope that helps. The only thing i can think of is when i had an update with itunes it screwed up 3gp converter so i had to uninstall and use the old version. i kept getting a qt3p error. how do i convert a vob file to a wav file?

ok details on vob file are ...Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch 384Kbps [AC-3]
Video: the vob file is playing in sync when i use it in Media play classic. Now how to convert to a mp4 file without losing the audio ughhh
