    Dear Sirs

Is there any way to convert a dvd bought from Australia to play in a panasonic dvd player her in the U.S. I put the movie in my dvd player and the disc read" does not play in this region". What should a newbie like me do?

Find a newer DVD player that might play it, or use the following link that will teach you how to convert. It is a bit lengthy, but I know it works great.

If you have plenty of these disc, buy multi region DVD players that play NTSC & PAL.

This sounds like a region code problem. Many DVDs have a region code and players are not supposed to play them in other regions.

Seach https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks for a "Region code hack" to remove this "feature".

If no luck, you can do a backup of the DVD
https://www.videohelp.com/dvdbackup and remove the code and other annoyances (FBI tirades, etc).
If your player does not support PAL, that could be a separate problem, but try the region hacks first.
