  1. I searched.. maybe didnt word my search right.. but i couldnt find an answer.

I dont know anything about dvd recorders... but i want to take some of my recorded tv shows.. record onto a dvd.

If i buy a dvd recorder.. is it safe to assume i could record a show... burn it to a dvd.. then import it to my computers hd? Maybe i should be asking the format of a dvd recorder? Is it like normal burned dvd's.. vob files?

I have dvdfab platinum that could extract and copy the vob files to my hd.. and even convert them to mp4 for my ipod. I also work with tmpgnc dvd author 3...

    thank you

You can import from all dvd recordable formats like dvd-ram(you need a dvd reader that accepts dvd-ram then), dvd-vr, dvd+vr, etc using tools like tmpgenc dvd author, mpeg video wizard, videoredo. I don't think you can use dvdfab directly on some dvd recordable formats but most dvd recorders can burn in standard dvd-video(video_ts folder) on the dvd recorder and you can then use dvdfab directly to convert it to mp4.

A recorder that does VIDEO mode in a compliant resolution (most machines), using a DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R ad DVD+R, then extracting the streams with DVD Decrypter, is still the most commonly used method for recording tv, then editing on the computer.
