An effect I would like to incorporate into videos is panning across a scene.

    For example...

Suppose a castle is being filmed and I want to show detail in the architecture. I have a camera that takes really sharp pictures and it would be a nice effect to incorporate a picture into the video and sweep across it slowly allowing the detail to be taken in.

The main video editing program that I have available to me is Magix video deluxe plus 2006. I have seen several scene effects for that but none seem to be programmed for the panning of a still scene that I am trying to achieve.

There is also windows movie maker on my computer but I am less familiar with that program.

This is generally known as the "Ken Burns Effect". Google for that and you'll find several video editors that support it, notably iMovie and Vegas.
