why do mpegs play with green flashing lines obscuing the picture?? I am using windows media to play them. Am i missing a codec??? Help please!!!!!

Try playing one with VLC Media Player. If it works properly, then you may have a corrupt codec. You could also check one with Gspot 2.70 and it will tell you if you have a missing codec. But if it plays at all, the codec is probably there.
If you just need a MPEG-2 codec, try Stinkys MPEG2 Codec. If you have installed any codec packs, that may also be a problem.
If it's not a codec, it could be a problem with your video settings, but that would usually be the same for all codecs and players.
