    Hi,

I need to rip footage from a local band's concert DVD, and import the footage into Adobe Premiere Pro v7.0.

I've tried a few different ripping programs and which include features which encode to AVI, unfortunately i cannot find the proper program which will convert the DVD to uncompressed AVI so i can imort it directly into Adobe Premiere Pro to edit and sync to a remixed audio track. I need to maintain the most quality possible as well.

    Any suggestions??
Thank you so much for the help!!!

Premiere Pro will import mpeg video. Use VOB2MPG to get an mpg file, or DVD Decrypter to rip and demux to streams.

Hi. I used VOB2MPG as you suggested to convert the VOB files from the DVD, and tried to import the mpegs into Premiere, but every time i try to do so, the program freezes and crashes. When i try to play the mpegs that have been created, they will play back, but with horizontal green lines across the image. What do i do?? Transcoding issues like this baffle me, sorry for being so clueless!!!!

    Thanks!!!

I don't know that Premiere 7 (Pro 1) supports MPEG, without additional software. To get MPEG into Premiere 6.5, I had to install the Ligos Encoder many years ago.

Premiere CS3, on the other hand, natively supports MPEG (either that, or it's also pulling from my Ligos install, but I doubt it).

I understood that it would load and edit it, but would re-render all of it. Then again, Premiere never seemed to need a reason to lock or crash in the past.
