Of course it has. I live there, I know.
But that has NOTHING TO DO with this case, DVDs bought from an American vendor.

You and other Americans seeing a post talking about possibly bad quality DVDs start pissing on Hong Kong for no reason at all, taking yet another opportunity to wheel out your old anecdotes about bad encodes, etc, etc.
    That's what I object to.

For a start, any DVDs made and sold here will always have Chinese characters on the packaging, Chinese subtitles and often Chinese soundtracks. These do not, from the images shown.

And also, these days the vast majority of bootlegs sold in Hong Kong are made in the mainland. The margins are too small and the risk of being busted too high for local businesses to be involved except for small street vendors. All the "Hong Kong" based sales you see on EBay are no more than a mail drop for a mainland company.

And yes, I have been to Hong Kong several times and I was amazed how openly counterfeit products were being sold. There is just one word for that - thief. You know better than I do how widespread this is.
Why did and are you even talking about Hong Kong in this thread?
What motivated your posting the image, and labelling it a Hong Kong DVD dealer?
Just because that's where I am, I think. I can't see any other mention until you decided to post your attack.

And, FYI, the word "thief" has no application to copyright infringement, unless you are a tool of the RIAA. But you are one of those people who like to paint with a broad brush and use emotive inappropriate imagery in your arguments.

All this crap about Hong Kong: how often does it have to be said the dealer is an American, selling American videos on an American site.
Maybe he bought them from Asia. Maybe he bought them from a Feringi. Who knows, you don't. Until you do, STFU.

It looks to me that you need to get a grip & stop trying to make something into something it is not
And if you need it actually and completely explained to you..... i rest my case.....

  5. I disagree. It was SCDVD who tried to turn a thread abut a possible bootleg DVD bought from a seller in the US into a general condemnation of boots sold in just about anywhere other than the US, but particularly in Hong Kong (which as AlanHK points out, isn't usually the source of these things anyway). And he did it using thinly veiled racist language and pic. I don't blame AlanHK at all. I think he deserves an apology from SCDVD, who obviously is using this thread to further his own agenda.

SCDVD, please stop posting false information.
The troglodytes of today are indecently short-haired and
like to wear bourgeois suits (which are typically-unelegant of course).
