I have a AVI file which plays for just 3 seconds displaying that DomPlayer is required to play this media. Gspot indicates the file as XVID. However, Gspot also indicates that there are "unneeded bytes" at the end of the file.
Is there a way to extract these unneeded bytes from the AVI file. I think these bytes may contain the actual video.

Delete it. Chances are it is complete crap. This is the player required to playback the content, if there is any : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3wPlayer
I suspect you have just wasted your time downloading it.Read my blog here.

THANKS a lot guns1inger for the info !
The wikipedia page clearly gives the list rouge players going around. I had no knowledge about such players till now.Luckily I did not download the DomPlayer. Instead I thought of seeking expert advise on this forum which clearly saved me. The file is in the bin now !
Thanks once again. I'll be more careful now.
