    hello there,

I have been successfully using vobsub for some time. Can anyone tell me what information vobsub uses to automatically start? can the same information be used for dvds to start vobsub with a subtitle stream in the same way? can i watch a dvd and load .srt files?

I think you can, if you use Mediaplayer Classic (MPC) to play the DVD. Don't know about vobsub tho...

    hi mats,

i just tried using media player classic and when i try to load

"To load subtitles you have to change the video renderer type and reopen the file"
    Direct show......
    Realmedia
    Quicktime
    Shockwave

What does this mean and what do i need to do?

    thanks,

Search this site (front page) for "MPC subtitles" (without quotes).
(I'm on Linux, so I can't give you exact instructions, but I'm sure you'll find what you need with this search.)

ok i managed to get that sorted, thanks mats-just one thing-now that i habve the subtitles loaded with the new settings, when i play a dvd, the video is a bit staggered (jittery). Is there anything i can do to have settings that will still display the subtitles but will make the video flow ok?

    thanks,

Sorry - no idea. Never tried this. If your computer specs are accurate, it's a little on the lean side, but should work without hiccups AFAICS...
