ok so here is what i want to do, i have a computer monitor (obviously) and i have a tv with regular cable in my room, now the tv is kinda to far behind me and it hurts my neck to keep turning around to see whats going on. what i want to do is get another monitor and place it next to my other one and stream the cable on it. i would like to know how i will be able to do this? what kind of cables i will need, lets assume the screen is LCD with a DVI connection. as well could someone tell me if i can stream it right from the box or do i have to do it from my computer and if i do what kind of card will i need for that?
thanks a lot people

It depends on the box, my dvb box has hdmi out so I can connect it directly to a hdmi/dvi. What outputs does your box have?

Cheaper and easier to buy a low end TV set.

For HDMI or DVI the computer monitor would need HDCP and the cable cost alone would be close to the cost of the TV above.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

my box only has s-video and the regular red, white and yellow.
i know buying a smaller tv is cheaper but i want to get anohter screen and have a dual screen on my computer, and money isn't really a problem and as well the computer screen is much smaller than a tv screen -

Forget about "Streaming". You want TV on your PC and you have an available cable box with S-Video out.
If you have two spare PCI slots, one of them will probably run a Hauppauge PVR 150. -

It inputs cable / antennae, vga, svideo or composite (red, white, yellow) which are remote control selectable and it outputs multiple resolutions up to 1280x1024 on a vga connector which is perfect for my 17" lcd. Because it has a vga in you can easily use it as a passthrough for an extended desktop or switch to the tv signal using the remote. Because of the higher hardware resized output resolution being sent to the monitor from the Averbox, the picture is much better than the one coming from my computer tv tuner card.
There is a Box W7 version which displays 1440x900 for widecsreen monitors. They also have a BOX9 version but I haven't closely checked the specs.
