  1. I'm looking to Batch Process some Episodes on DVD to VCD.
Since they're usually 4 eps in one DVD, so I want to know how to
encode them all in one session, I'd prefer to use FlaskMPEG but I'm
unaware of any feature like that in it... I know TMPG can do batch
conversions but don't know how to take the audio out of the vob files
within the batch processing step. I've heard that I could use avisynth,
using virtualDub & TMPG to do this but again I don't know how...

Is there any guides for this sort of thing?
    Any help is appreciated!

    Thanks!

You need to get DVD2AVI here http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/all_downloads.html

Rip the entire contents of the dvd to your harddrive if you can.

Open up the first vob of the episodes with dvd2avi. DVD2avi will auto select all the following vobs. Delete all the vobs except the ones you want to encode. Under audio select dolby digital<decode and select 44.1. This will create a wave to use in tmpgenc. Under file, select save project. This will produce the wave and a small d3v file. You will have to do this for each vob you want to encode.

Open up the d2v file created by dvd2avi with tmpgenc and encode using one of the templates. Use the batch process tool of tmpgenc.

Lets say your episodes have 5 vobs, you will have created 5 d2v files to encode in tmpgenc.

  3. Correction on the address for DVD2avi go here http://www.doom9.org/software2.htm#decoders

Typo error d3v should have been d2v.

  4. Thanks, I think I've got to use the ifo files rather than the vob files to get
the info out, as the episodes are encoded in such a way that its
impossible to delete some of the vob files, as most contain elements of
the other episodes almost like its been encoded as the one film,
but the ifo file splits the episodes up, if you know what I mean...

  5. I need to clarify "impossible to delete some of the vob files". I didn't mean literally delete the vob files from the harddisc. When you use dvd2avi it will automatically select all of the sequential vob files in a list. If you try to encode that, it will end up being one large m2v file.

I have a real good understanding of ripping and authoring to DVD. It may be worth it to go ahead and encode the entire vob list and not using the batch encode facility of tmpgenc. This way you would have a continuous stream of all the episodes together in on large file. You also are less likely to run into audio sync problems.

Another way to consider is to use smart ripper to rip the individual chapters out into a single vob that consisted only of 1 episode and encoding that way. I believe that would be the route I would take.

  6. No sorry didn't mean literally... meant from the DVD2AVI project.

I'd rather I could do all this from FlaskMPEG as I'm more comfortable
using it than any other program, never actually used TMPG/DVD2AVI
before, basically I was looking for the most simplest method of getting
me eps to VCD in the most direct process me being lazy in all...

Doing an encoding of the entire DVD then cutting it to the eps might be
the way, but still if anyone knows a way to do batch processing in
    FlaskMPEG send us a message.

    Thanks for your help damnim
