  1. Ok so im trying to understand everything. I want to buy one of these
    http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/products/4100sh.aspx

So mkv is a container file just like avi,mpg4, divx etc etc. The mkv files use different codecs. If i use something like alltoavi does it keep its quality as far as being in high definition?

I know you may lose some quality when converting anything

Looks like a nice player, but I can't find any reviews from anywhere that I would trust. Let us know how it works for you.

ultraman36 - I would very strongly suggest that you take a look at this review prior to buying:
    http://www.amazon.com/TViX-Digital-Multimedia-Jukebox-4000P/dp/B000OK9DWW/ref=sr_1_2?i...7051695&sr=1-2
In summary, the reviewer warns that Divx 6 is NOT supported, contrary to what it advertised. If you play MKV files, I'd advise trying to confirm through multiple reviews that it really and truly supports the kind of stuff you want to play.

  5. First off thanks everyone for the replies

I have an older tvix that my mom uses and and play good. Ive convert stuff to mpeg4. The 4100 has a new firmware that now lets it play mkv but its the 4100 and 5100 models. Im now looking at this one. It has the newer chip and is like 1/2 the price. Any divx 6 i can convert to something the machine can use but it the hi def for myself more than anything

I wouldn't trust that review. The same OP posted that same generalized review on 6 different media players after trashing the one player that he seemed to have actually bought. In this case, I suspect it is just an uneducated user expecting too much from the hardware (ie: the casual user expecting a Divx player to play ALL avi files they find on the internet and then blaming the DVD player).

    Just my 2 cents.
