  1. This might be kinda of confusing so let me explain. My TV is pretty old and does not have a headphone output where I can plug in headphones. Basically the setup right now is it goes from the TV->VCR->and then it has the rca(composite) inputs I believe( I think they are called that, the red yellow and white, where the red and white are audio and yellow is video).

Basically what I want to know is, is it possible that there is some sort of adapter connector thing that you first plug in the rca port, and from there you plug in the 1/8 headphone jack.

Prolly not even possible but worth a shot.

Most amplified headsets such as wireless models come with RCA connectors. You can use a Y splitter cable for left and right. Ask at any Radio Shack.

Aside from an RCA to headphone adapter, you can also put your own headphone socket in.

I did that on an old TV, opened it up, drilled a hole in the cabinet for a headphone socket (about 50 cents) and connected the speaker wires to that. When a headphone plug is inserted it cuts the speaker wires. Easier to work with the big 1/4" size than the walkman size 1/8".

As always, keep well away from the high voltage on the picture tube, don't call me if you electrocute yourself, objects are closer than they may appear, etc, etc.

Many of them. They come in IR and RF models. IR (infrared) goes accross the room. RF can cover the house but usually is on 2.4MHz so may interfere with Wifi or other 2.4GHz gadgets. Try to find one that uses a different frequency band than WiFi or your cordless phone.

  6. Headphone amps, most audio or A/V receivers, powered computer speakers often include a headphone output. Be sure to get something with a volume control.

Philips is the usual suspect, or Radio Shack, or Monster

With cheap headphones, first look for something comfortable. Everyone has different shaped heads, and ears, and after an hour or so if it pinches at all you'll know it.

Sound quality too of course, but probably less difference will be noticed. Maybe check for bass response.

I run my TV sound into the AUX of the stereo. Then I can use the graphic equalisers. From that I can plug in my wireless headphones when I want to watch TV at night and not bother anyone.
