I recently purchased a new hp laptop and i just burned a movie to see if it worked and when i watched the movie it had all four sides with the black bar i guess its called windowboxing. When i checked the options before i burned the movie i chose normal full screen. But i don't know why its not showing full screen i've tried several dvd players and it plays the same on all of them. Its a divx movie that i burned on a DVD+R using Windows Movie Maker. does anyone know how i can remove this so it doesn't show up on every movie i burn?

...stop using windows movie maker. :P

Sounds to me like you haven't scaled the DivX file to full screen. I'm not that familiar with Windows Movie Maker, so I couldn't tell you exactly how to do it.

Personally, I own a DVD player that plays DivX files. They're incredibly cheap these days and they don't require you to hassle with re-encoding to watch DivX stuff on your TV.

I don't know of any programs to use to burn movies like i said this was my first time. What software do you recommend i use that doesn't show up with the windowboxing and isn't to expensive? the computer came with roxio installed but i don't like the menu's it creates for the dvd. i wanted to upgrade to nero 8 but i don't know if this is the one i need.

	You could try ConvertX2DVD.

But I agree, it saves a lot of time, effort, and money to just buy a Divx capable player.Google is your Friend
