I have a avi which I would like to convert to DVD but the video information is missing, frame rate pixel size etc so I can't convert it because encoders can't see the video information,I have three other files which are ok and have that information, and are ok is there any way I can fix this at all so I can put all 4 of them on a DVD.

Can you play the file in windows media player without any problems?
Have you tried repair it with a tool like Digital Video Repair?

What does g-spot say about it ?

Post a screenshot if you can.

At a guess, it sounds like you have not completed a download. VLC is designed to play back partial files, but you need the whole thing for a conversion.
