  1. What do you guys think of these so called modem uncappers that are all over the internet? I have a DSL connection and it caught my eyes. Are they worth it? Is there a chance that it will mess up my connection? I haven't tried one yet because I am worried that it could mess something up. What do think are there any good ones out there or are they just a waste of time? Thanks

  2. modem uncapper = trojan or virus

caps are set by the provider on their end of the connection. you can not uncap any connection without hacking the providers server.

if you wish to get the most out of your connection head over to www.speedguide.net and check out the tweaks and patches pages or you could head over to www.dslreports.com for good solid tweaking advice and if its a big enough provider you can even find a forum designed specifically for users of your service so they can discuss things.
    peace out,

  3. I agree w/dumwaldo...uncapping is a myth. Because of a thing called DOCSIS you can't uncap your modem. Hypothetically, even if you did manage to uncap your modem, you would hit some sort of switch that would slow you back down.

  4. I remember seeing this lying around and bookmarking it.

It's supposed to be some sort of setting / tweak for broadband.

When I bookmarked it it gave the title as Tweaking Broadband.

u can change some regestry settings and possibly improve preformance.

Remember that preformance of brodband (especially cable) is depenedant on how many people are signed on and how many are downloading.

I am fortunate to live in an area where no one uses cable. I only have cable because I live on a major throughfare

Windows is configured for a 10/100 Lan some ppl do better by tweaking the regestry
