  1. Ok, so we are editing in FCP 2 using DVCPRO HD 720p60p (codec). We also shot in 16x9. I also know that, you have to talk to your local networks about their specifications for that particular network. So, I'm editing this commercial for a local business and I'm almost done with it. So here are my questions.

When I export it, How do I go about exporting it?

When I export it, should I export it to a digitabeta tape from FCP?

What kind of questions should I ask the network when It comes to this type of thing?

What is the turn out of I shoot 16x9 for a 4x3 network? is there ways to export as a 4x3 but still look like a 16x9 image when playback?

If there is any questions I'm missing, please fill free to ask...

    Thanks,

    Murray

Do you own the DVCProHD camcorder? That gives you the option to output on tape.

If 16:9 HD is desired by the client, usually they want a 4:3 SD version edited as well. Some might accept a letterbox 4:3 version for SD. You need to ask both the client and the broadcaster.

Digital Betacam is an SD format and can be 16:9 or 4:3.

If the ad is intended only for a local TV station, talk to them directly. For regional to national distribution you usually go through an intermediary that converts to various formats needed by the various individual stations.
