I have just bought the EX87 and am having troubles setting it up. Can anyone help please as I am quite new to this sort of thing???

The problem is that when I was first trying to set the unit up it asked for the country. As we live in France and the TV signal here is Secam I thought that it was necessary to put France for the country. This changed the language to French and I have not been able to change it back to English.

I follow the instructions on page 64 of the instruction manual for thee Changing the units settings : press ‘Function Menu’, select ‘Vers Autrés’ (To Others) and OK, select ‘Configuration’ (Set Up) and OK. When I press OK the screen changes to the next screen for a fraction of a second and then reverts back to the channel that the TV is set to at the time before starting the procedure. I have tried seting the TV onto the AV2 channel, which is the channel for the DVD recorder, but the result is still the same.

If you can help me with thas problem I would be very grateful.
    John.

I'm sorry that I do not know specifically about your model, I would assume it's a international unit, not redely available here in the US. But what I do know about ALL my US Panny dvdr's is that you can reset them back to factory defaults by doing the following. Hold down both up and down channel buttons on the unit(not on the remote) for 10 seconds or more. Unit should be back to the state it was when you first got it. Then you should be able to start from the beginning again.
    Just a thought.

Thank you for your quick response, it just took 7 seconds Jeff. Now at least it's in English, BUT it still does the same and goes to the setup menu for a fraction of a second then back to the TV chanel... So I realised that I can't get to any of the setup menus!!!

    Any ideas???

Edit :- The reason that we got this unit is because we have had so much trouble with a load of JVC junk. We may have to return it tomorrow?

Hi again Jeff, I have found the problem. I have disconnected the HDMI cable from the back of the TV and now I can access the setup menus! There is nothing in the instructions about this and it was only a well placed guess, but it worked!!

How stupid can you get to design a system that works like that?

    Thanks again for your time!!
